Horseback Riding Long Island
Jamaica Bay Riding Academy and the American Council for International Studies (ACIS) has come together to provide students with an opportunity to go abroad. Jamaica Bay’s first trip will be to Costa Rica in 2014 for 10 Days for grades 6-12. You do not need to be a JBRA student to participate. Participants will visit such places as San Jose, San Carlos, Monteverde, Puntarenas, and many more. Students will experience part of a traditional school day for a Costa Rican student and will be able to compare and contrast it with the school system in the United States.
They will also explore and discover the rich and diverse topography of Costa Rica’s lush rainforests, volcanic mountains and sparkling Pacific waters. In experiencing the rich biodiversity of Costa Rica, students will come to understand the value and importance of preserving endangered species. They will also have the opportunity to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime adventure of riding horseback from the Arenal area toward the lush cloud forest of Monteverde.
Other adventures await them such as swinging far above the forest floor on the world famous Monteverde Canopy Tour, enjoying views from a series of platforms, suspension bridges and thrilling zip-lines!
